Thank you, Andy. Thank you, Donncha. No, thank you. This widget is great: shows Flickr photos and doesn’t mess anything up. Good work.

    Hi,

In earnestness, I’m stymied by the Flickr widget (indeed wordpress.com’s widgets and text widgets in general) and hope you don’t mind if I ask what may some silly questions. I promise I have already spent several hours reading various FAQs and forum posts to try and figure this out.

To be Frank, the wordpress.com FAQ on this subject is extremely dissatisfying, incomplete and short. As I rooted around, I learned quite a lot, but could not come across a helpful answer. Not that one doesn’t exist… just not where I looked.

Many people seem confused about plug-ins vs widgets, wordpress.com vs .org, what widgets work with what themes, etc.

Anywho, I use wordpress.com, and I’m using the “Benevolence 1.0″ theme (by Theron Parlin). I went to my dashboard, used the “Presentation” tab and “Sidebar Widgets” subtab and dragged the Flickr widget to the “on” column. I was never asked for any preferences about my flickr page, and if I click on the widget or look around the “Sidebar Widgets” page there are no evident entry or options fields… so my questions are:

    - Why does only blue text show up, instead of pictures, in the widget on my actual blog page? (I can see pictures in other people’s blogs just fine)
    - How can I fix this (and set the preferences to point it to my personal flickr page?)

I’ve already set up flickr to post to my blog in the actual posts, it’s just the widget that’s having troubles.

Lastly, if you care to take the time, how do I edit text widgets? Like Flickr, I see no options for editing or setting personal preferences.

    Regards,

    Harry
